EDUCATION: DePauw University (Bachelor of Arts Degree, with honors); Northwestern University (Juris Doctor Degree).

BACKGROUND: Staff Attorney, Leo Burnett Advertising Agency in Chicago; Deputy Midwest Regional Director, United States Small Business Administration.  Midwest Region included the states of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota.  Started law firm which evolved into Matuszewich & Kelly, LLP. Has authored articles on financial transactions, government programs, business organizations, estate planning, real estate, municipal and economic development, organizing and operating not-for-profit organizations, charitable foundations and international and immigration legal issues. Frequent lecturer concerning financing, business organization, director’s and officer’s liability issues, not-for-profit organizations, estate planning, probate, successor management for businesses, commercial contracts and agreements, use of governmental and other alternative financing and governmental contracting programs.

MEMBERSHIP (Professional): Illinois State Bar Association (Past Chair: International and Immigration Law Section Council and currently editor of The Globe; Past Chair: Commercial, Banking and Bankruptcy Law Section Council; Twinning Committee with the National Bar Association of Poland; Past Chair: Membership and Bar Activities Committee; Member: Intellectual Property Law Section Council; Past member: Agricultural Law Section Council; Past member ISBA Continuing Legal Education Committee and liaison to the International and Immigration Law, Intellectual Property and Agriculture Law Section Councils; Appointed by the President of the ISBA as a member of a Special Committee on the General Agreement on Trade and Services, which completed a recommendation to the Illinois State Bar Association for consideration by the Illinois Supreme Court to bring the ethical and procedural rules in line with the international treaty, known as GATS or General Agreement on Trade in Services); Past Chair: Agri-Business Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association; Past Chair of the Economic Development Council based in Chicago.  Selected by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to serve on the Advisory Committee for the Federal Bank Study, Small Enterprise Capital Access Partnership.
